The places we go have scary headlines and warm welcomes. That gap between what the news shows and what the street feels like is why these trips exist. But we don't close that gap with optimism. We close it with process.
01 — Routes we’ve run
Every itinerary is travelled in person by our team before a group ever follows it. George has been to 80+ countries and rode the Iron Ore Train himself before any group followed; your hosts have done every route: the same hotels, the same roads, the same border crossings.
02 — Local partners
In every country we work with fixers, drivers and guides we know personally and have worked with for years. People who live there, not a call centre. They tell us what the situation on the ground actually is, not what the news says it is.
03 — If plans change
We monitor conditions continuously, through official advisories plus our people on the ground. If something shifts, we re-route, reschedule or refund. The force majeure terms are written in plain English in our Terms & Conditions.
04 — The record
3 trips. 23 travellers. Nothing but stories for life to report. Comprehensive travel insurance is still mandatory for every traveller on every trip. No insurance, no boarding.
Show this to your mum
If someone you love has booked one of our trips, or wants to, this bit is for you. You've seen the headlines about where they're going, and you're worried. That's reasonable. Here's what we'd want to know in your position.
We run small groups of around ten people, led by hosts who have personally travelled the exact route before. Not once, but enough times to know which parts need care. On the ground we work with local guides and drivers we know by name, who live in these places and tell us what's actually happening, street by street, before and during every trip.
Every traveller is required to carry comprehensive travel insurance, and we build the itineraries conservatively: the adventurous bits are adventurous because of where you are, not because we cut corners on how you get there.
And you don't have to take a website's word for any of this. Email info@infamoustravel.com. A real person from the team will answer, and we're happy to talk to you directly before anyone books.
